In back-to-back games, the Red Deer Rebels scored a total of nine goals; of the nine scored, six belonged to Poul Anderson. Eight points in three games, all of which were on the road this past weekend. This staggering pace shot Anderson to first in the entire WHL for points and goals. His total so far is 14 points and seven goals.

With his success, he’s had a lot of help, especially from his line partner Beckett Hamilton, the captain of the Red Deer Rebels. They combined for 13 points in the last two games, and of his six goals, Beckett Hamilton assisted four of them.

Coming into this season, it seemed like Beckett Hamilton was going to be the consensus point leader for the Rebels. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2026 NHL draft but remains unsigned to start the season.

However, it seems that the race for points leader among the two young stars might be closer than expected. Beckett Hamilton has two games played less than Anderson, but trails by two goals and three points.

The top line has been the main source of offence for the Rebels with clear chemistry between both players. One thing Hamilton struggled with last season was his shooting, sitting at a below-average 9.2 shooting percentage. However, with Anderson’s shot this season being lethal as it is, the two combine for a terrifying duo to come up against.

Poul Anderson wasn’t drafted last season; however, he did commit to the University of Maine in the NCAA for the 2027 – 28 season. Before he played for the Red Deer Rebels, he played with the Edmonton Oil Kings and Sherwood Park Crusaders in the BCHL, where he had over a point per game.

Since transitioning from the Edmonton Oil Kings, he’s averaged significantly higher point totals. He joined the Rebels in December last year, nearly averaging a point per game in his time with the Rebels until the end of the season.

The Oil Kings didn’t have him in a producer-type role in the top line like the Rebels did to finish off the season. He started with the Oil Kings producing 16 points in 28 games, and ended with 30 points in 36 games with the Rebels. Getting another two points in three playoff games.

Now this season Anderson is a top-line player playing with incredibly talented linemates, and he has responded tremendously to the new role. Despite it being so early in the season, Anderson is setting expectations for Rebel fans and giving playoff hopes an even larger voice for the season.
