The playoff picture continues to evolve in the RMLL Junior B Tier 1 division, but there wasn’t enough movement this weekend to completely reshape the rankings. Several contenders strengthened their positions, while a few teams missed opportunities to climb.

While the standings remain relatively stable, there are a few storylines worth watching as we approach the roster freeze and the final stretch of the regular season.

How the Rankings Are Determined

These rankings are based on overall team strength, recent performances, quality of opponents, consistency throughout the season and projected playoff success. While wins and losses from the previous weekend play a major role, one game alone won’t dramatically change a team’s position.

1. Calgary Shamrocks (—)

The Shamrocks remain my No. 1 team this week. They continue to be the most complete roster in the league, combining elite offensive production with strong defensive play and reliable goaltending. While other contenders continue to push them, I still believe Calgary is the team every opponent has to beat entering the playoffs.

2. Okotoks Marauders (—)

The Marauders suffered a narrow loss to the Calgary Chill, but one close defeat isn’t enough for me to move them down. I still believe Okotoks possesses the most dangerous offense in the RMLL and has shown throughout the season that they can score with anyone. They’re capable of beating every team in this division and remain a legitimate championship contender.

3. Calgary Chill (—)

Calgary picked up an important victory over Okotoks, but I wasn’t quite ready to move them ahead of the Marauders. The Chill also found themselves in a tougher-than-expected battle against the Crude, raising just enough questions to keep them in third. They remain one of the league’s elite teams, but I want to see a little more consistency before moving them higher.

4. Edmonton Warriors (—)

The Warriors handled their business again this weekend and continue to quietly establish themselves as one of the most dangerous teams in the division. They’re playing disciplined lacrosse and continue to win the games they’re expected to. With roster freeze approaching, there are rumours Edmonton could still add another piece, making them even more dangerous heading into the postseason.

5. Fort Saskatchewan Rebels (—)

Like the Warriors, the Rebels continue to take care of business. They’ve been one of the league’s most consistent clubs all season and remain firmly inside my top five. There are also rumours Fort Saskatchewan could make additions before the roster freeze, making them another team worth watching over the coming weeks.

6. Mavericks Elite Lacrosse Club (—)

The Mavericks remain right in the middle of the contenders. They’ve shown flashes of being capable of beating anyone, but consistency has kept them just outside the top five. They’re still a team nobody will want to face in a playoff series, if they get in. (South is crazy)

7. Rockyview Silvertips (—)

Rockyview continues to compete hard every weekend but remains in a difficult position in these rankings. The Silvertips have enough talent to threaten higher-ranked teams, but they haven’t quite put together the consistency needed to climb further.

8. Calgary Mountaineers (—)

The Mountaineers remain one of the league’s tougher teams to evaluate. They continue to battle every weekend but haven’t produced the signature results needed to move ahead of the teams above them.

9. Beaumont Outlaws (▲1)

The Outlaws are this week’s biggest mover, climbing one spot after continuing an impressive stretch of lacrosse. They’ve picked up victories over Red Deer, the Crude and Saskatchewan SWAT while also giving the Rebels everything they could handle in a narrow loss. Beaumont’s recent form deserves recognition, and Sunday’s convincing win over the Rampage further justified moving them ahead. The Outlaws offense is at full strength now as well with Carter Mitchell, Carter Grace and Markus Hildebrand all at the helm.

10. Red Deer Rampage (▼1)

Red Deer slips one position this week after being convincingly defeated by Beaumont on Sunday. While the Rampage remain competitive, their recent results haven’t matched Beaumont’s current momentum, making this week’s swap an easy decision.

11. Regina Queen City Kings (—)

The Kings continue to battle hard but haven’t done enough recently to warrant moving higher. They’ll need a statement weekend against teams above them before climbing these rankings.

12. Saskatchewan SWAT (—)

SWAT continues to show effort but hasn’t demonstrated the improvement necessary to move past Regina. Consistency remains the biggest obstacle heading into the final portion of the season.

13. Crude Lacrosse Club (—)

The Crude showed signs of improvement by giving Calgary Chill a tougher game than many expected, but moral victories don’t change rankings. Until those competitive performances begin turning into wins, they’ll remain in the thirteenth spot.

▲ Beaumont Outlaws (+1)

Beaumont’s recent run of form continues to impress. Multiple wins, including Sunday’s victory over Red Deer, earn them their highest ranking in several weeks.

Team to Watch

Edmonton Warriors

With roster freeze approaching and rumours of additional moves circulating, the Warriors may not be done improving. If they strengthen an already solid lineup, Edmonton could quickly become one of the favourites heading into the playoffs.

Final Thoughts

The top five remain incredibly close, and every weekend continues to provide new talking points. While there wasn’t significant movement in this week’s rankings, the race behind Calgary continues to tighten as teams position themselves for the postseason.
