Western Hockey League approves Chilliwack expansion

The Western Hockey League announced today the awarding of an expansion franchise to Chilliwack, B.C., and its ownership group led by Jeremy Colliton, Brett Motherwell, Mason Raymond, Mario Amantea and Patrick Lathrop.

On Wednesday, the WHL approved an expansion application for a team to be based in Chilliwack, BC. The application was awarded to an ownership group led by Jeremy Colliton, Brett Motherwell, Mason Raymond, Mario Amantea, and Patrick Lathrop. The franchise will be the league’s 24th. The WHL has previously had a franchise in the city of Chilliwack, the Bruins, from 2006-07 to 2010-11.

Giants sign defenceman

Undrafted Vancouver Giants prospect Nolen Miller signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement on Wednesday. The 17-year-old defenceman has played four games for the team this season and five for his CSSHL U18 squad. With Calgary Edge School U18 Prep, he has scored one goal and recorded four assists.

Mujcin called up to Cougars

2010-born forward Kadric Mujcin has been called up to the Prince George Cougars from his BCEHL U18 team. The fifth-round 2025 WHL Prospects Draft pick plays for the second-place Caribou Cougars and leads the league in points with 30 on 11 goals and 19 assists.

Rewertz returns to Minnesota High School hockey

Vees defenceman Whitaker Rewertz has returned to Hibbing/Chisholm High for the High School hockey season! He will rejoin the Vees following the high school season.

Hibbing, MN resident Whitaker Rewertz has returned to his Minnesota High School hockey team, Hibbing/Chisholm High. In five games with the Penticton Vees this season, Rewertz tallied two assists. Last season, while playing with his high school team, he scored 23 goals and added 27 assists in 31 games. He also played 17 games with Team TDS Transportation in the UMHSEHL, where he scored four goals and added nine assists. He has committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth in NCAA Division I for the 2028-29 season.

Pařík returns to Czechia2

25-year-old goaltender Lukáš Pařík (22-7-2, 2.73 goals-against average, .917 save percentage, and 1 shutout in 32 games with Spokane from 2019-20) has returned to Czechia2 by signing with HC Dukla Jihlava following two games with Frederikshavn White Hawks of Denmark. In Denmark, Pařík had a 0-1-0 record, a 4.65 GAA, and an .829 SV%. It is his fourth Czechia2 league team in the last nine seasons. The Neratovice, Czechia, product was selected in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings.
